K's 1 year update...

I also did K's newborn and 6 month shoot so I was stoked when her mom called me to see if we could do her 1 year ones and a cake smash. I just love cake smashes!! The weather was a bit chilly so we hurried up and got a few outdoor shots before heading back to my studio to make a mess with cake.

We got part way thru smashing up the cake and she decided she was fed up.  "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to".   Even thru the tears we had a great session!

Zman's 4 month update...

I did this little man's newborn shoot right before Thanksgivings and I was excited when his mom contacted me again for an update session.  He's grown soooo much I can't believe it!  We had a great session.  It's hard to go wrong with such a beautiful family.

What's kept me so quiet....

Yup, our newest photographer is due to arrive in early August!  I'm just now getting back into the swing of things and getting my energy back.  This little critter has been kind in many ways but leaving my energy levels alone was not one of them:)

I have a number of shoots coming up now that spring has sprung (at bit early here in Nova but I'll take it) and i'm really excited.  A birthday shoot, an Easter shoot and a 3 month update are just a few.  I'm wondering how all that rolling around on my stomach will work now that there's something in the way.  I suppose we'll have to find different poses or ways for me to shoot.

Anywho....that's what's up.  I have some pics to share and hopefully I'll get around to getting them into posts soon.

i ♥ faces: Best face of 2011

It's been a little quiet around here lately.  I promise I have a good reason but it will have to wait.  Today's task at hand is to highlight the best face of 2011.  I love going back thru my archives and looking for a pic to submit.  It's a trip down memory lane.

I had a ton of beautiful little faces from this past year's photoshoot but I chose an outtake instead because every time I see it I laugh.  He was actually okay, just making faces for us.

Tell me you don't just want to squeeze those amazing cheeks??!



i ♥ faces: Furry Faces

If you've looked thru blog at least a little bit you know that I like to show off my precious Vizsla Macie.  She was my main subject before my son.  When I saw Furry Faces as the theme I thought I'd submit another one of her but as I looked thru my "animal" folder I found a few other great ones and I'm having trouble picking just one!!

I stumbled across this guy on a backpack trip in the Mt. Rogers area in southern Va.  Rumor had it that there was a heard of wild horses that lived in the area we were hiking and low and behold, as we crested the hill and the view opened up into this high meadow, they were there.  We counted 20 or so in the heard (which became 22 by the next morning - we woke to 2 new foals born in the night).  Most were brown/white but this guy (and 2 others really stood out because they were black).

Baby Z....

I snuck in a quick photo session right before Thanksgiving for little Z.  The lighting was a mess and he was not having it at all but I still think we were able to pull a few rabbits out of our hats!

Twinkle lights...

I've seen a bunch of photogs this year go for the twinkle light effect and I just had to try it too!  My subject was none too cooperative but we still ended up with really neat shots!

I'm off to the store to find me some white lights to hang over a white backdrop!!!
